Statewide Office Ballot Access Petitions
If seeking ballot access for a statewide office, the petition must equal or exceed
three percent of the total votes cast for Governor in the 2010 General Election. A
petition for statewide ballot access in the 2012 election year must have at least
44,828* verified signatures of registered voters. Call the Elections Division for a list
with the number of signatures needed for county offices.
*This figure has been updated to reflect the certified election results
of the Governor’s race in the 2010 General Election.
Beason-Hammon Alabama Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act
Pursuant to Section 9 of the Beason-Hammon Alabama Taxpayer and Citizen Protection
Act, the Secretary of State has promulgated rules to provide an acceptable form for
affidavits for business entities, employers, contractors, and subcontractors.
